Polling stations opened their doors to the Algerians, today, Thursday, to choose a president for the republic, where millions go to choose the seventh president of the country, from among 5 prominent candidates, in a decisive and controversial presidential election, open to all possibilities and assumptions, according to the "Arabia" website.

About 24 million and 741 thousand and 161 voters were invited to this presidential poll, according to figures from the Independent Electoral Authority, including 914 thousand and 308 voters in the Diaspora, and 500 thousand to 600 thousand nomads, out of 44 million Algerians.

It is expected that weak participation will be recorded in these elections due to the lack of consensus around it in the Algerian street, between supporters who see it as the only solution to the exit from the political crisis that followed the resignation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and opponents see it as a reproduction of the former regime.

Voters will be divided into more than 60,000 polling stations located in all cities and villages of the country, supervised by more than half a million members of the Independent Electoral Authority.
