A child almost lost his life due to a peanut, which he failed to swallow, and was trapped in his windpipe, according to Sky News.

The one-year-old, who lives in southern China, lost consciousness directly due to a lack of oxygen in his body after the pill got stuck in his throat.

He was rushed to the Shenzhen Children's Hospital, where he was detained in the intensive care unit.

Experts recommend that additional safety measures be taken with children 4 years and under when eating foods such as nuts, seeds, grapes, popcorn and chewing gum, or avoiding them as much as possible.
