Professor Juergen Zuessli, professor of biological psychology at the University of Regensburg, Germany, said that fatigue is a common phenomenon during the winter, due to the shortness of day and the length of the night, in addition to the cold weather and dark and cloudy weather.

He explained that winter fatigue especially attacks the elderly and office workers who suffer from sleep disorders, as well as those who suffer from mood disorders and depression.

To combat the winter fatigue, Tsouli advises that you are exposed to daylight for at least 30 minutes a day. Daylight reduces the body’s secretion of the hormone melatonin, which causes fatigue.
