The funeral of Egyptian singer Shaaban Abdel-Rahim from the Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in downtown Cairo took place in the afternoon.

At the forefront of the audience were the captain of the artists Ashraf Zaki, the popular artist Abdelbaset Hamouda, the singer Mahmoud Laithi, and a large group of relatives of the late artist.

For his part, said the Egyptian newspaper "Sunrise", the late artist Abdel Basset Hamouda said, "The news of the death of a friend Omri Shaaban Abdel Rahim was a very big shock to me, it is one of the best artists I have known throughout my life, and was passionate about art and singing to a great extent."

Shaaban Abdel-Rahim died in the early hours of this morning, after being ill, and the body is scheduled to be buried in the tombs of the family Mit Halfa in Qalyubia.
