After the success of French police series such as Zona Blanca , La Fôret , La Mante and Inspectora Marleau , the Calle 13 channel opens in Spain this Monday night (10 pm) Trauma , a disturbing psychological thriller signed by Franco-Canadian director Fred Grivois and which is a twist to a very popular genre in the Gallic country.

The director explains that when the producers went to see him to tell him about the project, they told him that with this series they were going to "shoot French fiction in the head."

«Police series generally tell stories of policemen chasing a murderer, here we ask ourselves if the protagonist is a policeman or a murderer», adds producer Henri Debeurme : «It is not a police story, it is a story about human beings who have trauma and have to overcome it ».

Produced by NBCUniversal Trauma tells the story of Adam Belmont, a policeman who tracks a serial killer. Adam, played by the French actor Guillaume Labbé , survives a shot in the head with a single sequel: he suffers amnesia. During his convalescence, he finds a young woman frightened and chained to the wall, played by the French actress Margot Bancilhon , locked in the basement of his house. At that moment he has a terrible doubt: What if the murderer he was persecuting is himself?

Like Adam, the viewer does not know who the fragile and at the same time young arisca of the basement is and how he got there. They discover it at the same time as the series progresses in its six 45-minute chapters.

" Amnesia is a great instrument ," says the director of the series, who emphasizes that this resource allows "a blank page" and that the viewer and the character have "the same level of information."

Trauma is "more a psychological thriller than a police series" like the ones that are usually broadcast on French television, Grivois and Labbé agree. The idea is inspired more by American cinema. Among his sources of inspiration are Brian de Palma's thrillers and serial killer movies such as Silence of the Lambs (1991), Seven (1995) or Zodiac (2007), but also Korean films such as Memories of Murder ( Chronicle of a serial killer , 2003) by Bong Joon-ho, as explained by the director of Trauma .

«Korean cinema makes good thrillers and they have a strength that combines tension, violence and humor well. And this is rare with respect to what is done in Europe, ”says Fred Grivois, who wanted to mix these ingredients in his series to achieve the psychological tension he seeks.

In Trauma also acts Alba Guilera , a young Spanish actress based in Paris who plays Jessica Lebar, a mysterious 33-year-old woman who appears during Adam's investigation.

During the plot, the protagonist is accumulating pieces of a huge puzzle that he has to solve so that everything returns to fit and thus know who he is and if he is the murderer he is looking for. "Sooner or later, the truth will come to light," says Trauma's publicity on the streets.
