The IG Nobel Prize, launched by Mark Abrahams in 1991, recognizes funny, exotic, and often unhelpful or impractical achievements, but it is science-based to prove it is true. Each September, the Nobel Prize ceremony is held at the Harvard Sanders Theater to celebrate 10 unusual or trivial achievements in scientific research, with 1,100 spectators presenting prizes to new winners.
