"When I discovered that I was pregnant again, all I wanted was for breastfeeding to go well," starts his Facebook post Sierra Strangfeld , an American mom whose story has jumped the puddle through social media. "But when we discovered Samuel's diagnosis, I knew that was not going to happen," he continues, "another hope that was taken from me."

When he had his first daughter, Porter , Sierra did not produce breast milk. The girl was fed for more than six months with milk donated by her sister-in-law. So this time, being able to produce but without a baby to feed, this mother made a difficult decision: "Before Samuel died, I told myself that I would get the milk to donate."

"Pumping is not for the faint of heart. It is difficult. Mentally and physically. And it is even more difficult when there is really no baby," says Sierra in a post that has gone viral for its hardness and also for its positive message. : "There were times when I got angry, why did I have to raise my milk if I didn't have a baby to feed? Why did I wake up in the middle of the night for this?" He asks, "Another part of me felt that was the only thing that connected me with Samuel, here on earth. I hope he is proud of me! "

The breast pump was his companion day and night for 63 long days. In total, 14.78 liters of breast milk intended to feed other babies, Sierra told the Good Morning America television program.

She had just passed the equator of her pregnancy when this mother from Wisconsin discovered that her baby would not survive long. Samuel suffered a trisomy on chromosome 18 , a rare genetic condition that affects one in every 6,000 infants. Most babies die in the womb and that seemed Samuel's fate, so his mother had an emergency C-section. He lived three hours .

"He was small, he had his hands and feet undone, but he was so perfect," the woman told Good Morning America , "he fought very hard to meet us." The day Sierra went out of account was the last day the milk was taken out. Now, Samuel's parents have decided to take advantage of the fame that their history has given them to create a foundation, Smiling for Samuel , that makes known the rare genetic condition that changed their lives.
