Kanye West presented his opera Nebuchadnezzar on November 17. It was set up at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles seven days later and is about the rapper's salvation, which he recently told.

The already cool interest was further called just before the premiere when ticket prices dropped from SEK 1500 to SEK 200.

On the premiere night, the show was delayed for two hours. West, who himself would be with, stood most beside and read from the Bible. The New York Times writes that "it wasn't good at all". The Guardian's critics call it "a gigantic folly". The Rolling Stone is not as hard, according to the newspaper, the opera is "bold and messy".

The opera is directed by Italian performance artist Vanessa Beecroft, West's long-standing partner. The story revolves around the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezza II who lived in the 500s BC The king carried away Jews in the so-called Babylonian captivity. He appears in the book of Daniel in the Old Testament.

British artist William Blake has interpreted the Babylonian king in his painting Nebuchadnezzar from 1795.
