It is reported by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
The epicenter was located 169 km west of the Iranian city of Tabriz and 100 km east of the Turkish city of Van. The hearth lay at a depth of 10 km.
No damage or casualties have been reported.
It was previously reported that more than 500 people were affected by the earthquake in northwestern Iran.
