NASA released footage of a rare astronomical event on Monday (November 11th) that marks the passing of Mercury directly between Earth and the Sun in what is known as the "Mercury Crossing".

Mercury's transit is rare, occurring on average, 13 times a century, and astronomers will have no further chance to see such a transit until 2032.

The transit was not visible to the naked eye, as the US space agency called NASA to use a telescope with at least a 50x magnification lens.
