Women's History Magazine Historiskan and Stockholm County Museum have both received sponsored posts stopped by Facebook. It appeared that the posts were blocked because they contained words such as "voting rights" and "feminism" and that these were classified as political content by the social media giant.

In an email, Peter Münster, head of the Nordic communications department on Facebook, writes that what has happened is a mistake.

“These are ads that should not have been blocked or flagged as political. We do not consider equality as a polarizing topic. We use resources to ensure that people can share things freely on Facebook without that freedom being abused by a few with bad intentions, "he writes and continues:

“Sometimes we will make mistakes and unfortunately remove content or block ads even if they do not violate our rules. It is a problem and we are working to make it happen as little as possible. "

According to Facebook, the organizations that have blocked their ads can try again. Facebook should now review what has happened and ensure that it does not happen in the future, they write.
