“Well, if it is justified by the director’s intention, beautifully, professionally done and equipped with an appropriate rating of 18+, then why not ... You see, it’s not the job of the Ministry of Culture to dictate to directors how to make a movie,” the head of the department said during conversations with RT at the VIII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

According to him, the ministry should follow another: in order for Russian cinema to develop, viewers liked domestic films, and filmmakers complied with the restrictions established by law.

“Well, the film“ Text ”, if my memory serves me right, got its“ 18+ ”. Although, in my opinion, there are two versions there, ”Medinsky gave an example.

He also emphasized that he had read the novel of the same name by Dmitry Glukhovsky and was not a fan of this work, but the film adaptation of director Klim Shipenko was to his liking.

“The film was made very professionally, very with feeling. And, judging by the number of viewers who watched it and continue to watch it, it found a response in the soul of our viewers - especially young people. So this is a movie that we need, ”the minister emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that the Head of the Sober Russia project, Sultan Khamzaev, turned to Medinsky with a proposal to change the rules for showing films that mention drugs.
