The Israeli army announced early Saturday, November 16, new strikes on Gaza after rockets were fired into Israel from the enclave, despite a two-day ceasefire.

Shortly after 5:00 am (3:00 GMT), she explained that she had intercepted two rockets with her "Iron Dome" anti-missile shield. But, a significant change since the beginning of the week, Israel said it targeted "Hamas targets" and not Islamic Jihad, Islamist movement considered more radical but less powerful than the first.

According to Palestinian security sources, the Israeli strikes targeted two Hamas sites in the north of this three-fold-large enclave like Paris and where two million Palestinians live under Israeli blockade.

End of the truce

These strikes come after a truce concluded between Israel and Islamic Jihad ending two days of unprecedented clashes for several months. Hostilities erupted on Tuesday after an Israeli air raid that killed the military leader of the Gaza movement.

The record of two days of clashes, reported by the medical services of the enclave, is 34 dead, Palestinian side. Eight children and three women are among the victims, half of whom are civilians, they said.

On the Israeli side, where hundreds of rockets have been fired, dozens of people are injured. Gunfire from the Gaza Strip also paralyzed the south of the country for two days.

For its part, Hamas had decided not to lend a hand to Islamic Jihad, the movement probably not wishing to compromise a truce with Israel - negotiated under the auspices of the UN, Egypt and Qatar - providing for millions of dollars in monthly assistance.
