"Takanawa Gateway" station, which will continue to be closed on a large scale for the Yamanote Line, will be released for the first time on November 16 at 11:42

The inside of the station building of the new station on the JR Yamanote Line, Takanawa Gateway, which will open in the spring of next year, was released to the press for the first time on the 16th. On the other hand, the Yamanote Line has been suspended for about one-third of the section due to the effects of the construction of switching lines for the opening of the new station.

On the JR Yamanote Line, Takanawa Gateway, a new station for the first time in about half a century, will open next spring.

Since the new station building was almost completed, the inside of the station building was first disclosed to the press on the 16th. The station is characterized by a large white ceiling with a Japanese paper shoji motif, and the beam is decorated with wood.

In addition, the walls are made of glass and are bright spaces where outside light can enter. In addition, rarely at railroad stations, the space from the platform and the ticket gate floor to the ceiling has a feeling of openness.

According to JR East, 90% of the station building is under construction, and after that, the interior and exterior finishes will be completed before opening.

Mr. Yoshiya Tennai, Deputy Manager of JR East's Business Planning Group, said, “I want to open a station as a new gateway to Japan, where the region can be proud of.”

On the other hand, due to the impact of the construction of a large-scale track change for the opening of the new station since early morning, the section from Osaki Station, which is about one third of the Yamanote Line, to Ueno Station via Tokyo Station is suspended. The resumption is expected around 4pm.

In addition, there is no service between Shinagawa Station and Tamachi Station on the Keihin Tohoku Line, which will be suspended all day on the 16th and will resume operation from the first train on the 17th.
