November 15th is the birthday of Ryoma Sakamoto, the Bakumatsu Shishi. A ceremony to celebrate the 184th birthday was held at Ryoma's birthplace in Kochi.
Ryoma Sakamoto was born in Kamimachi, Kochi City, on November 15 of Tenpo 6 and was assassinated at the age of 33 on the same day of Keio 3 at the end of the Edo period.
In front of the stone monument where the Sakamoto family's mansion was located in Kamimachi, Kochi City, local people hold a birthday festival every year, and more than 200 people attended.
First, a ritual was held at the altar in front of the monument, and the priests read out the congratulatory words, and the attendees offered the balls.
The nursery school, elementary school, and junior high school children were invited to the ceremony.
Two of the 6th graders from the 4th Elementary School read a letter to Ryoma, saying, “I will be an adult who delivers happiness to people like Ryoma, who cares about family and others.” .
In addition, the children of Kamimachi Nursery School performed musical instruments and dances and added flowers to Ryoma's birthday.
A man in his 60s who visited the ceremony said, “Ryoma is like the family of all Kochi citizens, so I want to celebrate and celebrate this day once a year.”
