In "Culture media" on Europe 1, the comedian evokes Ferocious, named after his book of drawings that is accompanied by an exhibition at the gallery Cinema, in Paris, until January 11. This is the second time that the comedian publishes a collection of comic works.

INTERVIEW

In 2017, Romain Duris had published his first collection of drawings, entitled Pulp . The actor, especially known for his films with Cédric Klapisch, thus unveiled an unknown facet of his person. Two years later, he published a new book of drawings, Feroce , but not only. His works are visible on the occasion of an exhibition at the Cinema Gallery in Paris, until January 11th. In Media Culture on Europe 1, he returns to this personality of draftsman, that he would like to explore even more.

"There is the desire that it is well done"

It is almost relaxed that Romain Duris offers to see his works drawn in book and exhibition. "I would like it to be well received, but it's so subjective and it's up to everyone, I'm pretty relaxed about that, that's why I dare," says the actor at Philippe Vandel. Stage fright is elsewhere. "There is the desire that it is well done," he says.

"The sculpture side I like"

With his drawings, Romain Duris proposes works where one sees naked men and women, in hieratic poses, with a rendering of the bodies close to the stone. "It is true that there is the sculpture side that I like and that attracts me," says the artist, "I like when the pencil makes these contrasts, very strong, between the very hard black and the lightweight". The fierce book is understood as a series of individual drawings, even if the sequence of pages can give a linear rendering. "There is always a story written, even in sketchbooks," admits Romain Duris.
