According to the Immigration Office, as of the end of September, there are 219 foreigners who have acquired a new status of residence “specific skills” and are residing in Japan.

By nationality and region, Vietnam has the largest number with 93 people, followed by Indonesia with 33 people and the Philippines with 27 people.

By category, “Food and Beverage Manufacturing” has 49 people, “Industrial Machinery Manufacturing” has 43 people, and “Shape Materials Industry” has 42 people.

By prefecture, the largest number is 29 in Gifu, followed by 24 in Aichi and 23 in Osaka.

The Immigration and Resident Management Office says, “I would like to increase the number of residents by conducting specific skill tests in all fields within the fiscal year and increasing the number of tests conducted in Japan and overseas.”
