In "Media Culture", the founder and publisher of Polka magazine, Alain Genestar, Tuesday mentioned this turning point for the magazine, devoted to photography.

INTERVIEW

"And if we told ourselves the truth". Thus begins the editorial of the latest issue of Polka magazine signed by its founder, Alain Genestar. A long text in which he justifies the new formula of the magazine, motivated by the crisis of the written press. This is what he explained Tuesday at the microphone of Philippe Vandel, in Culture Media .

"There was a digital revolution that changed everything"

Polka magazine changes periodicity. "We go from four to three issues a year," says Alain Genestar. The price is also rising. It will now cost 9.99 euros to afford the magazine. Necessary changes, according to the interested party. "We are in a new world and the paper has to adapt," he says. "We talk a lot about the crisis in the press, we have to stop talking about it because it's no longer a crisis, it's a state of affairs", explains the man in the press, "there was a digital revolution who has changed everything and there will be no restoration. "

Alain Genestar does not hide that he is happy to have managed to make this new formula, without sacrificing the teams and content of Polka magazine . The pagination has thus increased and all the numbers have been kept. "We kept the entire team: 15 people, seven to eight for the magazine only," says the founder. Polka magazine is distributed around 30,000 copies each time.
