The 38th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which concluded yesterday, attracted 2.52 million visitors over 11 days of events.

Sharjah Book Authority organized the exhibition this year under the slogan «Open a book that opens the minds», with the participation of more than 2000 publishing houses from 81 Arab and foreign countries.

In a new achievement in addition to the series of achievements, the exhibition broke the record of the largest book signing ceremony in the world, setting a new record in which 1502 writers participated in one collective signing ceremony, for works in different languages ​​of the world, surpassing the previous world record in Turkey with the participation of 1423 writers at the same time.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority, said: “After an 11-day journey, we ended the curtain on 38 years of cognitive and intellectual creativity. In which we continue to translate the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to build human beings on the knowledge, that His Highness is safe and since the founding of Sharjah's great cultural project, , Wa The special language that everyone understands ».
