“I sang a hymn of love with my music”: Alexandra Pakhmutova - 90 years

On November 9, 1929, the People's Artist of the USSR and composer Alexander Pakhmutov was born. At an early age, she mastered the piano, even before school she wrote her first songs, and finished receiving music education at the age of 27 at the graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory. Pakhmutova’s alliance with songwriter Nikolai Dobronravov became both family and creative: they co-authored dozens of pieces. In total, Pakhmutova became the author of more than 400 compositions, including the hits “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”, “Old Maple”, “Tenderness”, “Hope”, “How Young We Were” and dozens of others. Pakhmutova wrote a melody for the composition, which sounded at the close of the Olympics-80, and her songs were performed by leading artists of the Soviet and Russian pop.
