The 38th Sharjah International Book Fair has broken the record for the world's largest book signing ceremony, setting a new record of 1502 writers in a single collective signing ceremony for books in various languages, surpassing the previous world record of 1,423 writers in Turkey.

The Sharjah Book Authority received the new record certificate from the Guinness World Records representative, amid the cheers of thousands of readers and visitors who came from various emirates of the UAE to participate in the global event, and get their copies of the writers gathered side by side along the exhibition halls forming a human chain of writers in various Literary, scientific and cognitive fields.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed Bin Rakad Al Ameri, thanked the writers, publishers and organizers who participated in the completion of the event, stressing that everyone who attended was a contributor to enhancing the value of the book, and its role in the renaissance of societies and civilizations, and building bridges of human communication between different countries of the world.

The signing ceremony started with a message from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, conveyed by Ahmed Al Amri, to the intellectuals and visitors of the exhibition, saying: “I convey to you the greetings of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and his invitations to make this event a new step in the march of Arab culture. In the memory of the creative and cognitive achievements led by Sharjah for more than 40 years, we wish you all the best in (Sharjah International Book Capital of 2019) and now, upon the blessing of Allah, and with the blessing of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, we invite you to start the largest book signing ceremony in Sharjah. the world".

Regarding the new Emirati achievement, Al Amri said: “Sharjah confirms that it is the central book city in the world. Not only is it crowning the World Book Capital by UNESCO on a project that started more than 40 years ago, but it proves that the celebration is continuous and renewed and flourishes the book year after year.
