Netflix CEO Reed Hastings believes he can learn a lot from Disney +, the new competitor in the field of streaming platforms. During the DealBook Conference of The New York Times, Hastings was full of praise for the company that will officially start its streaming service on November 12.
"Disney is a fantastic company, we admire them," he says. "It's a good competitor." He compares the different streaming services and states that Disney + is the most important competitor. "Disney is the company from which we can learn the most."
Hastings says not to worry about the arrival of Disney + and emphasizes that Netflix has never been the only one on the streaming market and mentions YouTube, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video as examples. "We have always had competition. Everyone now realizes that platforms like this really work on the internet, so now all major companies are starting their own service."
In addition to the launch of Disney +, Apple TV +, Apple's streaming service, also appeared on November 1. In 2020, WarnerMedia will launch the HBO Max platform, while NBCUniversal will launch Peacock.
