"It is with disgust that we at the Swedish Film Institute are sharing the information that gay-hostile groups want to stop the premiere of 'And then we danced' - which the Film Institute has supported - on Friday in Georgia's capital Tblisi," says the Film Institute's CEO Anna Serner in a press release.

The film depicts a prestigious dance company in Georgia and is about forbidden love in a homophobic society between the two young dancers Merad and Irakli. SFI has supported production with SEK 3.75 million.

- They can't threaten cinema visitors in this way, you have to say, director Levan Akin tells Dagens Nyheter.

"And then we danced" has its bio premiere in Georgia on November 8.
