Amal Clooney, a British-based international human rights lawyer, in an opinion piece published in the English-language An-Nahar newspaper expressed her support for Lebanon's uprising against corruption and injustice.

Amal started her article: "Almost four decades ago, when I was born in Lebanon, my father called me" Amal ", hoping for better days than the war that has gone through Lebanon.

“It is the first time that I see the Lebanese upholding one principle rather than any party or sect. I see a united people who want to change on the basis of dignity and equal opportunity. And the love of the voice of my brother and my relatives and friends who went out to the street to prove that Lebanon exists. "

Clooney also said she has visited Lebanon several times, stressing that it takes only one visit to observe the government's poor performance compared to the country's potential and the capabilities of the Lebanese who need their freedom to preserve their country.

Amal stressed the need for a change from within the authority to overcome corruption in which sect and sectarian penetration to reach a country that allows fair and impartial accountability for each criminal and protects the rights of women in independent courts away from religion.

"I tell the Lebanese that the coming days will not be easy and I hope that the violent forces will not change their course. The Lebanese people deserve a better life and we have reached the moment of no return on this journey," she concluded.
