Narita Airport 3rd new runway construction Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport revised basic plan November 5, 11:54

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism revised the basic airport maintenance plan that included the construction of the third new runway at Narita Airport. In the future, airport operators will apply for construction permits, and the procedure will begin in earnest.

In order to increase the number of flights that can be made at Narita Airport, the council formed by the country, airport company, Chiba Prefecture, and local governments agreed in March last year to construct a new runway.

In response, the MLIT revised the basic plan for the development of Narita Airport and announced it on the 5th.

Specifically, of the two existing runways, the B runway with a length of 2500 meters will be extended to 3500 meters, and the C runway with a length of 3500 meters will be newly established.

As a result, the number of times an aircraft can depart and arrive is expected to increase up to 500,000 times a year, 1.7 times the current number.

Completion of the runway has the prospect of 2030.

Following the revision of the basic plan, the airport company will be near and will apply for permission to construct a new runway.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Akabane said at a press conference after the cabinet meeting, “In 2030, in collaboration with Chiba Prefecture and local cities and towns, etc. I want to work on enhancing the functions. "
