• Interview with Arnold and Linda. Linda Hamilton: "The new Terminator teaches the reality of emigration in the United States"
  • Criticism: Terminator: dark destiny, when will all this end?

The last attempt to revive the Terminator franchise has ended up disheveled by the cliffs of the US box office. The scarce 29 million dollars that Terminator has managed to raise : dark fate on its first weekend on the billboard mark a painful path to millions in losses, according to forecasts by industry analysts.

The weak public response with the film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and James Cameron as producer and screenwriter, has also been felt internationally, adding 94.6 million dollars to the overall partial result: 123.6 million. If you take into account that half of the income is taken by cinemas and that $ 185 million was invested in making the film and another substantial amount in distributing and promoting it, the prospects are not entirely promising.

According to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter, the partners in this adventure, Skydance Media, Paramount Pictures and 20thCentury Fox face a dilapidated business, with losses of between 120 and 130 million dollars if the trend is not reversed forcefully in the next weeks.

It would be a particularly hard blow for Skydance, which has invested millions of dollars trying to recover the luster of the franchise that came from Cameron and Gale Ann Hurd, his ex-wife, in 1984. After many criticisms of Terminator Genesis (2015), David Ellison , the CEO of Skydance, turned his plans around and convinced Cameron to return with a sequel to the two most recognizable and famous titles in the series , Terminator and Terminator 2: the final judgment.

However, neither the return of Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton have helped green old laurels. Much has had to do the mediocre reception of the critic . The majority, at least in the US, agree that it is superior to the last two installments of the franchise, the fourth and fifth, but also to point out that it is a failed attempt to sell nostalgia.

The alleged bad result greatly complicates the future of the franchise. The feeling in Hollywood is that the sixth movie will be the last.
