In Baabda, a small town south-east of Beirut, several thousand Lebanese gathered in the morning of Sunday, November 3, holding flags and orange banners in the colors of the party of Lebanese President Michel Aoun. The compact crowd was spreading for nearly two kilometers.

This rally in support of Michel Aoun took place in a context of questioning the head of state, confronted for more than two weeks to an unprecedented popular uprising against the entire ruling class.

Anti-power demonstrations are scheduled for the afternoon in the heart of Beirut, on the Place des Martyrs, the epicenter of the protest since October 17: the protesters claim the "fall of the regime" and blame leaders politicians deemed corrupt and incompetent.

"Neither a corrupt nor a thief"

The participants in the pro-Aoun demonstration came to defend the balance of the head of state, a former general who once headed the Lebanese army. "General Aoun is a reformist and sincere man, he is neither a bribe nor a thief, we are here to tell him 'we are with you and we will stay with you no matter what'", said a protester to AFP.

They denounced the anti-power protesters who demand the departure of Michel Aoun, even if they share the demands of the challenge - reforms and fight against corruption - and believe that the head of state is the only one to be able to concretize them. .

On Saturday evening, several thousand people from all over Lebanon had gathered in Tripoli, a large city in the north where the protests do not falter.
