In Holesovice many of its modernist buildings have been rehabilitated, old factories have been transformed into cultural centers or headquarters of technology companies, museums have been turned around and the old merchandise port is now a brand new Marina surrounded by luxurious residences. Now it is only a matter of time for this neighborhood to rise to fame. We invite you to discover it throughout this itinerary:

1. The Prague Market (Praská trnice)

Whether you arrive by subway (Vlavská Station) or by tram (1,2,12,14 and 25), the first stop must be made in this immense enclosure built during the 19th century as Slaughterhouse and Central Market of Supplies that is now one of the most popular places among the population of Prague, by combining several markets, both for agricultural products and merchandise of all kinds. In certain corners it remembers a trail, on the other hand it has the highest concentration of Asian restaurants, including the most famous Vietnamese in the city, such as SaSazu. A place full of surprises, including art galleries, which rarely disappoints.

2. Vnitroblock

An immense industrial space is hidden behind a discreet door in Tusarova Street, with narrow streets included, where there are curious shops, several cafés, exhibition spaces, some stage where concerts are held, all with a lot of charm and design. The public is varied but abundant 'beautiful' people with intellectual looks.

3. Parallel Polis

This self-proclaimed coffee cryptoanarchy institute is already a classic in the neighborhood, being possibly the only place in the city where you can only pay with bitcoins that are obtained in a little machine. The place is a bit freaky but the coffee is excellent. In the surroundings there are a lot of curious places like the Holport, home of several design brands in addition to bars and cafes or the first industrial brewery in the city on Komunard Street, converted into an office building.

4. Cross Club

Another must-see place is this multifaceted building on Plynární Street, decorated with all kinds of pipes and bizarre machinery. It is especially known for its nightlife where they usually program live performances but during the day it is a cafe and the perfect place to take a break, both on its terraces, as in the rooms with almost British air. Right next to it is also Tiskárna na vzduchu in Výstaviste 67, another nightclub highly recommended.

5. Prague Marina

After decades of abandonment, the old freight port of Prague has become an exclusive place and one of the most charming corners of the city to live. There is still much to fix but what is already done can not be more attractive. A recommended restaurant in the area is Home Kitchen, in Jankovcova 14.

6. Bubny zone Graffiti

In the surroundings of U Papirny Street, an area of free graffiti has been set up to follow the history of this urban movement in the Czech Republic. The vision can be completed without leaving the neighborhood near the Vltavská metro station just behind the church dedicated to San Antonio de Padua.

7. Industrial Palace (Výstavit)

Built in 1891, it is a beautiful modernist building built in iron. It is a landmark of the neighborhood, headquarters of the Four-Year of Prague and in whose surroundings you can visit the Lapidarium, the national museum of Czech sculpture from the 11th to the 19th centuries; also the Planetarium, the Marold Panorama (a curious panoramic painting painted by Ludk Marold between 1897 and 1898 that recreates the battle of Lipany), all surrounded by Stromovka Park.

8. DOX

Famous for the Zeppelin that can be seen on its rooftop, this contemporary art center is an international reference for its projects related to social issues and current affairs. One of the essential places of the neighborhood.

9. National Gallery (Veletrzní Palac)

What was the first rationalist building in the city, designed in the 20s by the great Joseph Fuchs , houses the National Gallery of Modern Art. An essential visit for culture lovers, it has the most important works of Czech art but also exceptional pieces of historical avant-garde from private collections. Nearby, another interesting modern building has housed since 2018 a hotel of the Mama Shelter chain, designed by Philippe Starck, whose bar is already one of the most popular meeting points in the neighborhood.

10. National Museum of Technology

The idea of visiting such a museum may be unattractive but the reality is that it is a fascinating place with fourteen very different areas that end up engaging. In the surroundings the National Museum of Agriculture is another surprise, as well as the spectacular Czechoslovak Pavilion at the Brussels Expo of 1958 whose architects Frantiek Cubr, Josef Hrubý and Zdenk Pokorný were awarded for their work.
