UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum chaired a cabinet meeting at which the Union's budget for 2020 was approved at a total of 61 billion dirhams without deficit.

His Highness pointed out that one third of the budget was allocated to the social development sector, one third to government affairs and the rest to infrastructure, economic resources and living benefits.

This came in a tweet published by His Highness through his account on the social networking site "Twitter", where he said: "I presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers during which we approved the budget of the Union for 2020 total of 61 billion dirhams and without a deficit.

He added: "One third of the budget is allocated to the social development sector, one third to government affairs and the rest to infrastructure, economic resources and living benefits. 2020 will be the beginning of a new development decade."

His Highness said in a tweet: "I have seen today a report on the space sector in the country from Hazza Al Mansouri and the team, the size of the sector 2222 billion dirhams, employing 1500 employees in 50 companies, including 2 of the largest satellite communications companies in the world ... We have 16 satellites .. We have started manufacturing satellites locally.

We also approved at the Cabinet meeting a government fund to support education to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and businessmen in the educational field ... and to provide additional financial resources for development programs in the national education sector.

His Highness concluded his tweets by saying: "We have adopted the UAE's participation today in the International Solar Alliance and the restructuring of the Emirates Council for Climate Change and the Environment."
