Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee, USA, conducted a study on the fight against cancer showed that eating one cup of milk a day may reduce the risk of lung cancer.

In the study, published in JAMA OncologyK, the researchers analyzed about 10 group studies from the United States, Europe and Asia, involving more than 1.44 million people.

They analyzed how much participants consumed dietary fiber and milk, and then tracked patients who developed lung cancer.

The team found that those who ate a daily meal of milk had a 20% lower risk of the disease than those who did not.

Studies have shown that some species of live bacteria present in milk (probiotic), have anti-inflammatory and cancer-resistant properties.

The research team said that the results show that dairy consumption should not be discouraged, and the potential benefits of dairy products need to be reconsidered. They believe that the benefits come from prebiotics found in a high-fiber diet, and probiotics in yogurt.

Prebiotics and probiotics promote digestive health and a healthy immune system. Some probiotics have been shown to inhibit the growth of lung cancer and have anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties.
