About 500 people, according to the police, gathered Saturday afternoon in front of the courthouse of Rouen to express their concern about the possible consequences of the fire of the chemical plant Lubrizol in this city a month ago. "Our past feels Lubrizol, our future smells of cancer", or "With Lubrizol, we die a little, but not too much", could we read on the banners brandished by the participants, gathered at the call of a " unitary collective ", bringing together associations, unions and political parties.

Elected officials EELV and PS were also present. "We are in an extremely long fight (...) It's the anniversary of an industrial crime today," said Gérald Le Corre (CGT), referring to the fire occurred a month ago to the day. There is a "Lubrizol scandal", he insisted, adding that "the proposed medical monitoring (by the State) seems insufficient".

9.505 tons of products burned

The state announced that a "health survey" was going to be conducted from March to the population that was under the cloud of fumes from the fire Lubrizol plant in Rouen. This survey does not provide for immediate blood tests. It will concern the 215 municipalities that found themselves under the 22-kilometer long smoke plume emitted by the site fire.

On September 26, around half-past two, a part of the Lubrizol plant and three buildings of the Normandie Logistique company were ravaged by a gigantic fire, which did not cause any casualties. A total of 9,505 tonnes of products, mostly chemicals, burned.
