Report overlooked report of risk of ruptured aneurysm Patient died Yokohama Oct 24, 20:43

At the Yokohama City University Hospital, a 70-year-old male patient overlooked the risk of a ruptured aneurysm in a CT scan, and his doctor died last month without receiving appropriate treatment. I understood that.

According to the Yokohama City University Hospital, in June, when a 70-year-old male patient underwent a CT examination to check the condition of the kidney, he was in charge of the examination that the aneurysm in the pelvis might rupture. The doctor described it in the diagnostic report.

However, the man overlooked this, and without proper treatment, the man lost his consciousness last month and was transported by ambulance and then died.

According to the hospital, the aneurysm ruptured and the condition worsened, and the hospital apologized to the male family for taking the opportunity to receive treatment due to a mistake overlooking the imaging.

Last year, the hospital was investigating whether there was a similar case where the patient died without sharing the diagnosis of the suspected cancer among the doctors. I did not investigate vascular diseases such as aneurysms.

Michiko Aihara, the director of Yokohama City University Hospital, said, “I don't want to rely on the results of diagnostic imaging, I want to miss the treatment opportunity and deeply apologize to patients and their families.
