Despite the growing global trend towards the adoption of new technologies, the passion for a valuable book remains critical to the region's culture, as confirmed by the sales reports recorded by the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair at its 2019 edition.

The exceptional event brought the curtain to its 2019 session last night at 11.59pm, having received visitors for 11 days, for 255 hours, attracting 250,000 readers and enthusiasts interested in getting the latest book titles from all levels.

The exhibition allowed visitors to choose between a huge number of three million books at the Sound Stage in Dubai Studio City, where all book categories were offered with discounts ranging from 50% to 80% on retail prices. Following the remarkable success of the exhibition in its first session of 2018, sales in the second session set records. They included the most popular book types among readers, including novels for children and adults.

The event's remarkable presence throughout the day was further evidence of the importance of the exhibition, especially in view of the great deals it has witnessed, highlighting its value as a means of fostering government initiatives to promote a culture of reading among the UAE community.

Mohammed Al Aidaroos, Managing Partner of Ink Riddle Book Trading Company, which organizes Big Bad Wolf in Dubai, said: the society. The event has welcomed readers of all ages and interests, and here lies the beauty of reading.

“Our goal from the very beginning was to provide an event that encourages people to read and promotes their passion for the book and to ensure that all members of society from all walks of life have access to new English books at affordable prices,” he added.

Social responsibility

The exhibition renewed its commitment to social responsibility while organizing the RedReader event for the second time, donating 500 books, in addition to recording 6,609 books donated by visitors. A total of 7,109 donated books will be distributed to the Public Libraries and Children's Hospitals, with a portion distributed to children who are deprived of books in Kenya, with the aim of spreading the culture of reading among these groups and increasing the number of children who are literate in Africa.
