The trailer for the very last part of the Star Wars films: The rise of Skywalker has appeared.

The film is the ninth part in the series and is directed by JJ Abrams, who also wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio. And is set after the events in Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi .

The film is produced by Lucasfilm and Bad Robot Productions and is distributed internationally by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

It was recently announced that Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige is working on a new Star Wars film for Disney together with Kathleen Kennedy from film production company Lucasfilm. The film is one of the projects that comes out after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The very first Star Wars movie was released in 1977. Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. Seven more films then appeared.

The films together were nominated for 21 Oscars, ten of which were won.

The series of films portrays a universe that takes place in a galaxy that is described as far, far away. It often shows the Jedi as a representation of the good, contrary to the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the light sword, is widely recognized in pop culture. The fictional universe also contains many themes, in particular influences from philosophy and religion. An example of this is De Kracht (The Force).
