25 years of experience in space and landscape

Montserrat Soto (Barcelona, ​​1961) studied painting at the Escola Massana and at the École Supérieure d'Art de Grenoble (France). In the early 90s he began his artistic career focusing mainly on photography and video.

Montserrat Soto's work focuses on space, place and landscape , with emptiness as a preponderant element. Museum stores and collectors' houses have been the focus of some of his series in which he analyzes the place of art.

Since 1993 when he made his first individual exhibition at Espai 13 of the Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona), his work has been exhibited among others in La Caixa (Barcelona), Koldo Mitxelena (San Sebastián), Fundación Telefónica (Madrid), National Museum Reina Sofía Contemporary Art (Madrid), Center d * Art la Panera (Lleida), Patio Herreriano Museum, Center d'Art Santa Mònica (Barcelona), Lázaro Galdiano Foundation (Madrid) or the Zaragoza Museum.

In recent years, Soto has collaborated on various projects related to poetry, theater and cinema . She has participated in the 17 Poetry Festival in Palau de la Música through a multimedia installation, has created the scenography of the play 'The lands of Alvargonzález' at the María Guerrero Theater and together with the Spanish film director Chus Gutiérrez has made the short film 'Those who live in the fog'.
