Barbro Lindgren's absurdist book was published in 1969. Since then, the remarkable family has lived on opera and theater scenes, become animated films and most recently also a serial album by the cartoonist Sara Olausson.

SVT's literature magazine Babel took the help of Allan Linnér, former radio psychologist at Swedish Radio, to find out if a diagnosis can be made on the absurd family.

- This particular family I would not like to diagnose. It would be a way to diminish them and take the lead out of the imagination, he says.
