According to the police, in late August, a part of human bones was found from the gill net used in the fishing industry, about 6 km east of the beach of Yamamoto Town.

The police conducted a DNA test and found that it was that of Maki Okubo (27 at that time) in Yamamoto-cho, who was involved in the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake and was missing for about 8 years ago.

Okubo-san was working part-time at a driving school in Yamamoto-cho at that time.

Okubo's father, Sano (66), reported that he received a report from the police. “I couldn't find it no matter how many times I searched, and I couldn't do anything. My daughter finally came back to my house, so I want to say “Please come home”.

Okubo's remains will be handed over to his bereaved family on the 24th of this month.
