"The Supreme Court has decided to grant a trial permit in a case where a mobile film was used for news reporting without the consent of the person who filmed it," HD writes in a press release.

The Patent and Market Court ruled that SVT would pay the Swedish Democrat Kent Ekeroth for using a mobile film he owned the copyright to, the so-called "iron pipe film". SVT appealed to the Supreme Court, which now grants trial.

Been going since 2015

The Patent and Market Court ruled that SVT will pay Ekeroth's court costs of approximately SEK 190,000, and reimburse him for the use of the film.

The dispute between SVT and Kent Ekeroth has been ongoing since 2015.

According to Kent Ekeroth, SVT committed an infringement of rights in the Copyright Act. SVT, for its part, has argued that the reproduction of the mobile film should be subject to the restrictions in the Copyright Act, which are found, inter alia, in connection with news reporting.
