At the same time, according to Billboard, nine candidates are nominated for the first time, among them Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Motörhead, The Notorious BIG, Soundgarden, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy and Whitney Houston.
