5.8 magnitude quake in Afghanistan

An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 was recorded in northeastern Afghanistan. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.



According to him, the outbreak was located 60 km south of the city of Fayzabad. Tremors began at 6:11 local time (04:11 Moscow time - RT).

It is clarified that seismologists rated the earthquake as "intense."

Earlier, the Sakhalin branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 in the region of the Kuril Islands.
