Until Sunday, the Institut Pasteur launches the 13th edition of its Pasteurdon. On Europe 1, the godmother of the event, Alexandra Lamy, relays the call to generosity and evokes her love for researchers.

INTERVIEW

For nine years she has been the face and voice of Pasteurdon. Committed godmother, Alexandra Lamy boasted on Europe 1 the little-known work of researchers at the Institut Pasteur, which this week launches a great national call to generosity. "The Pasteur Institute is known around the world, but strangely in our country, nobody knows exactly what is going on there," the actress complains.

An overflowing love for "these heroes"

Since 2011, Alexandra Lamy has increased visits to the research center of the French foundation, where 1,500 researchers work. Thus, the actress was able to discover more precisely their work on resistance to antibiotics, HIV or cancers. "I adore them, first because it's our health" which is at stake, she explains. "They do a lot of work, and it costs a lot of money, which is why we call on the generosity of the public." Before concluding: "we love them, they are the heroes!"

"I was going to Pasteur School"

Long before being the godmother of Pasteurdon, Alexandra Lamy grew up in the Cévènnes, alongside Louis Pasteur, "a hero" in the region. In the 19th century, "the country's economy was the silkworm, there was an epidemic, and Pasteur was called in to solve the problem." His intervention helped save the industry, making him a recognized person.

"I was going to Pasteur school," says Alexandra Lamy. "I passed every day in front of Pasteur's house, next to my parents' house." Not far away, "there was Pasteur's statue, all Pasteur's laboratory." This name has very quickly speak to the actress, who knew very young "who was Pasteur". That's why when the Institut Pasteur called on her to be Pasteurdon's godmother, Alexandre Lamy said "yes right now".
