Nagasaki-kunchi begins to perform “Performance” with a votive dance October 7th 11:43

Nagasaki's traditional autumn festival “Nagasaki Kunchi” started, and a votive dance was held where gorgeous dancers and brave bearers performed “Dashimono” at Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki City.

Nagasaki-kunchi has a history of 385 years and is designated as a national important intangible folk cultural property.

The votive dance began at 7am on the 7th at Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki City, and the five districts on duty were performing in order.

Of these, now Hakata-machi dedicated the “main dance”, and six dancers dressed in red and blue kimonos and white silk fabrics performed a splendid dance that expressed the appearance of cranes flapping for long-lasting prosperity. Did.

Edo-machi, which flourished in Dutch trade during the Edo period, devoted a “Dutch ship” and slowly routed a 3 ton weight ship, sometimes energetically, to express a voyage in the open sea.

Lastly, Kojimachi, where the Chinese residence was nearby, devoted the “Dragon Dance,” and while the sound of Dora and firecrackers resonated, the dragon 20 meters long played lively.

The audience gathered in the precincts sent out loud cheers and applause, and asked for encores with a shout “Motekoi”.

Nagasaki-kunchi will be held until the 9th, and performances will be performed at Chuo Park in the center of Nagasaki City.
