Sharjah, the guest of honor of the 37th edition of the «Libre International Book Fair - Madrid», introduces the intellectuals and the Spanish public to the creations of the UAE and Arab arts and literature through its intellectual and cultural program which is being organized from the 9th to the 11th of October.

For three days, Sharjah tells the story of the common history linking Arabs to Spain, through a series of cultural sessions and seminars, on the ties between the two cultures.

The emirate's co-pavilion will also display 70 Spanish-translated books for Emirati and Arab writers, poets and novelists, whose works have been translated under the supervision of the Sharjah Book Authority.

During the exhibition, Sharjah will present a series of heritage events reflecting the UAE's identity. The Sharjah National Ensemble will perform a variety of performances, while the Sharjah Heritage Institute will dedicate a pavilion to henna painting and traditional Emirati clothing.

In the field of Islamic arts, the Department of Culture in Sharjah participates in a platform for calligrapher Khaled Al-Jallaf, so that the exhibition's audience will learn about Arabic calligraphy schools and methods, and write their names in Diwani calligraphy, transcription, thuluth, and other calligraphies, in addition to organizing an exhibition of paintings and works of Arab calligraphers.

First day

The first day of the Sharjah events in Madrid will be organized under the title 'Arabs in Spanish and Spanish Literature in Arabic Literature', with the participation of Dr. Habib Ghuloom, novelist Reem Kamali and writer Fernando de Agreda Borello, and moderated by the poet Sheikha Al-Mutairi.

In a gathering of poets Bushra Abdullah, novelist Iman Al-Youssef, novelist Salih Obeid and writer Jeronimo Paez, the participants will review the history of the Arabs in Spain and the impact they have had on their arts and literature.

In the second day of its participation, the emirate will present a cultural symposium entitled “The School of Andalusian Architecture and Aesthetics of Architecture in Sharjah”, in which the poet Ali Al-Abdan will participate. It will be run by novelist Salha Obaid, and will discuss the characteristics and characteristics represented by Andalusian architecture and the contributions that this type of art has brought to the Arab culture. For the Spanish. The Spanish Travelers in the Arab Region, which hosts Dr. Hamad bin Saray and Geronimo Paez, will discuss the historical contacts that the Spanish have had with the Arabs in the field of excursions.

In a cultural seminar entitled 'Andalusian Poetry and its Impact on Contemporary Emirati Poem', which will be held on the third day of the emirate's participation, novelist Iman Al-Yousef writer and researcher, Sultan Al-Amimi, will discuss the Arab poetic project in Andalusia, to talk about the Arabic poem and the impact of Andalusia in the UAE and the Arab world. The Contemporary Challenges of Culture and Intellectuals in the World, featuring novelist Nadia al-Najjar, novelist Fathia al-Nimr and Manuel Pimentel, and moderated by novelist Salha Obeid, will highlight the main challenges facing writers, poets and publishers.
