An exhibition to consider the marine environment in “Sealess Prefecture” October 4, 17:07

While ocean pollution from plastic waste has become a global problem, an exhibition is held in Saitama Prefecture, where there is no ocean, to think about the ocean environment.

The exhibition is held by a department store in Saitama City in collaboration with the prefecture, and six mannequins made of environmentally friendly paper are displayed instead of plastic.

A company in Fujimi City, Saitama Prefecture, entrusted it to a daruma trader in Gunma Prefecture to look at the mannequins that remain undisassembled on the seabed and think about countermeasures.

It is made by manually pasting recycled Japanese paper one by one using “paste” made of rice.

The cost is about twice that of a conventional mannequin, but the number of inquiries is increasing due to increased environmental awareness.

Mr. Yoshio Osato, Managing Director of "Mode Crafts," said, "I want to know more about environmentally friendly paper mannequins and increase production."

At the venue, the current state of marine pollution caused by “micro plastic” with a diameter of 5 mm or less and the actual items collected in the sea are also displayed.

Mr. Natsuno Ishizaka of the Sogo Omiya store said, “I want to know that there are a lot of eco-friendly activities that I can get close to, and I would like to advance efforts to increase paper mannequins as a department store.”

The exhibition will continue until the 8th of this month.
