Health has reported the withdrawal of several batches of 1-Day Acuvue Moist brand contact lenses for astigmatism, from Johnson & Johnson Vision Care laboratories , due to the presence of a foreign body that can cause redness, discomfort or abrasion of the cornea.

In an informative note, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps) explains that the company has reported the withdrawal of several batches of these lenses for astigmatism and recommends that people who have the affected products not use them and return them to the store where they bought them.

The company has explained that it has received a "limited number" of reports on the presence of a foreign body in the contact lenses or in the lens blister solution.

The presence of these small particles could cause redness, discomfort or abrasion of the cornea.

Affected lenses are indicated for daily use and optical correction of refractive errors, myopia and farsightedness in people with healthy eyes who have astigmatism.

The affected master lots are 395749, 395750 and 395751, while there are another 29 box lots of 30 also removed.

Johnson & Johnson has sent a note to the optics establishments that have the affected lots that include the actions to follow to proceed with their withdrawal.
