A missing painting by a 13th-century Italian artist has been found in an old French kitchen, estimated at 6 million euros, to be sold at an auction in France next month.

Chimaboy's "Christ Muked" is from the early Renaissance, estimated by Paris-based artist Eric Torca at between four and six million euros ($ 6.6 million) and will be auctioned north of Paris on October 27.

For years, the painting was hung near a cooking pot in the old French kitchen in Compiegne, north of the French capital.

"This is an important work in the history of art. Shimaboy ... separated from the Greek style of painting without perspective and introduced humanity in 1280 and this was completely new, it was revolutionary," Turka told Reuters.
