A workshop was held in Matsue City to deepen understanding by experiencing the symptoms of dementia using VR = Virtual Reality technology.
The workshop was held in Shimane Prefecture to help students understand the various symptoms of dementia.
Ten employees, including super employees who may have contact with people with dementia, participated and experienced the symptoms of dementia with goggles-type VR devices and headphones.
Among them, “visual space cognitive impairment”, where the sense of distance is difficult to grasp, actually experienced getting a feeling of jumping off the rooftop of a building while actually getting off the car.
I also experienced various symptoms such as “phantom vision” where people and things that do not actually exist can be seen.
A police officer who participated said, “I knew that there are various symptoms of dementia. I'm involved in various occupations and people, so what kind of support can I get if I meet people in need? It was a good opportunity to think about. "
