A young Italian man accidentally killed his father, thinking he was a "wild boar" during a hunting trip in Cicciano delle Alborni, near Salerno.

The 55-year-old father was shot dead in the abdomen when the two men were hunting in a part of a national park normally banned by fishermen.

At the end of 2018, the Italian Ministry of Environment called for a national ban on fishing after an 18-year-old man was killed in similar circumstances.

The director of the National Association for Animal Welfare, denounced the transformation of Italian forests and rural areas to the "American West" and called for harsher sanctions.
