The RTVE Information Councils - independent body representing the public corporation workers - called an internal referendum to assess the appointment of Enric Hernández as Director of Information and News and the result has been a rejection of the decision imposed by the sole provisional administrator Rosa María Mateo. 65% of the employees who have participated in the consultation have voted against this appointment.

As EL MUNDO advanced, the sole administrator of RTVE announced on September 4 the appointment of Enric Hernández, a graduate in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and until that time director of El Periódico de Cataluña , as director of Information and News, newly created position.

Following this appointment, the RTVE Information Councils decided that it would be advisable to hold a consultation with the professionals directly affected by said Headquarters, since "their work would include the coordination of information between the different RTVE channels and stations and also unify criteria between news and magazines, "as the Information Councils themselves stand out.

The results of the consultation, as EL MUNDO has learned, are: from a census of 3,211 workers, 645 have participated. Of the total votes, 95 have been "Yes" (14.7%), 419 "No" (65% ) and 131 blank votes (20.3%).

After the consultation, the RTVE Information Councils have issued a note in which they "regret the low participation" in a referendum that, although not binding , "is an instrument that professionals have to show their position on managerial positions on which they depend ".

"The low participation should make the management reflect on the confidence that professionals deserve a figure whose attributions seem intended for a unique wording that, to this day, does not exist," said the Information Councils. "We reject that a change in the organization chart of this size will be executed by an interim and interim address pending the resolution of the contest to elect the new RTVE Council," they conclude.
