The Ukrainian delegation refused to participate in the next PACE session (some of the active tourists from the Verkhovna Rada will go, but this does not change the essence). Ukrainian MP Bogdan Yaremenko explained the situation on his Facebook page: in his opinion, PACE violates its own principles and ignores Ukrainian interests; Apparently, the shocking fact for Ukraine was the fact that in the summer of Russia Russia returned to PACE after a long absence.
In general, it is not very clear what the Ukrainian delegation was counting on if PACE long and stubbornly returned Russia back. The Russian delegation left the assembly in response to the deprivation of its voting right, ceased to pay dues and recognize resolutions. And then it turned out that without Russia it was somehow not right. In order to achieve Russia's return to PACE, the assembly had not only to return the rights of the Russian delegation in full, but also to introduce a clause prohibiting discrimination of the rights of its participants.
Ukrainian hysteria against the background of the negotiation process looked very funny. The delegation of Ukraine, which in 2014 for a moment felt itself a significant phenomenon to be reckoned with, did not understand that it was a bargaining chip in the diplomatic games of Europe with Russia. Now, when these diplomatic games are approaching a conditional truce, and Ukraine and its bogush are being pushed away, the Kiev delegation has a tragedy that does not lead, however, to insight. The Kiev delegation still thinks that there is some misunderstanding, that it is still significant and is interested in its opinion.
It would seem yes, but no.
The head of the international State Duma committee and a member of the Russian delegation to PACE Leonid Slutsky clearly and clearly gave the following situation: “The statement of the head of the Verkhovna Rada’s foreign policy committee on the refusal of the Ukrainian delegation to participate in the PACE autumn session looks like a demarche and an attempt to blackmail. The argument does not hold water. Ukrainian deputies continue to engage in the substitution of concepts and distort the entire information picture, calling the amendments adopted at the June session on the equality of all national delegations “violation of the principles of the assembly”. In this way, “trust in PACE” cannot be returned. ”
“At the same time,” he adds, “the PACE October session is eventful. Commemorative events are expected on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe, as well as a statement by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, followed by a discussion in plenary. France is one of the countries participating in the Norman format. And it is very strange that Ukrainian deputies refuse the direct opportunity to ask questions, including on a settlement in the Donbass. "To spite my mother’s frostbite," you won’t say otherwise.
But how is it that the Ukrainian delegation bow its foreheads, wiping stingy tears with embroidered sleeves. After all, it was the same! It was - they shut their mouths to the damned Russians, it was - they deprived them of the right to vote, it was - they listened to the angry speeches of the descendants of the Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, and the PACE conference room was thundering from accusatory speeches.
And the Moscow aggressors got up and went out against a laughter, and the delegation set off in a fiery hopak with joy, and in the evening took more than one glass of vodka. And the European delegates smiled politely, giving the tips of their fingers - probably this, they, the Europeans, meant a special respect.
How did it happen that then they ran to bow to the Muscovites, and completely forgot the proud Cossacks? And they drowned with heels, and bowed their heads in sadness, but no one heard them. They only grimaced irritably in their direction and asked quietly while some gentlemen in suits were negotiating with others. As the words “Nord Stream”, “Norman Process” and others sound, where there would be something to say to the Ukrainian delegation ... But no one listened to it, they just asked to be quiet and not to interfere with people who are involved in the business.
And then the pan-ataman said: "No matter how sorry we are for our European brothers, that we will kill them at once, we won’t have to capture one from Moscow." And the Ukrainian delegation left, snooping around the vus, because they knew: it leaves the unreasonable European brothers to be torn to pieces by the bloodthirsty Muscovites.
“Thank God, gentlemen,” came the English mov behind them, “let someone ventilate, because it unbearably stinks of lard and garlic.”
And no one ever called them back.
It’s a really sad story, and the Ukrainian people became a hostage to it - the Ukrainian people, who believed in 2014, on the totality of circumstances, that he really is more, that even Europeans rush with him, like with a written bag, that means there is in him something powerful, cool, which allows you to stomp your foot, and arrange tantrums. And when it became clear that all this was about nothing, and therefore nobody, say, the tantrums of the Ukrainian delegation in PACE did not care, the crown already sat firmly on donkey's ears.
Sad, gentlemen, sad ... It will take a long and painful to remove this crown from gilded plastic.
